The mempool is a buffer zone where transactions wait before being picked up by a Stake Pool (SPO) and included in a new block. During times of high network activity, transactions might stay longer in the mempool. Cardano's deterministic fee model means that transactions are usually processed in the order they arrive, rather than by highest fee.
